The WORD is The SON of GOD John 1:1

The WORD is the SON of GOD

Today, we delve into a foundational truth of our faith: the profound connection between the Word of God and the Son of God. The Gospel of John opens with a powerful declaration:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made." (John 1:1-3)

The term used here, "The Word," refers to the Logos in Greek, meaning reason, principle, or expression. John is telling us that this Word existed eternally alongside God, sharing the same divine nature.

It continues with a staggering revelation:

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:14)

The Word, who is God, became flesh! This Word took on human form in Jesus Christ. He was the embodiment of God himself, walking among humanity.

This concept is further emphasized in Colossians 1:15-17:

"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together." (Colossians 1:15-17)

Here, Paul reiterates that Jesus, the Word made flesh, is the image of God, the one who created everything.

  • Understanding of God: Through Jesus, we gain a deeper understanding of God's character. We see God's love, compassion, and forgiveness embodied in a human form.
  • Salvation: The Word becoming flesh bridges the gap between humanity and God. Jesus' sacrifice on the cross provides the path to salvation and eternal life.
  • Relationship with God: Knowing that the Word is the Son allows us to build a personal relationship with God. We can talk to Jesus, seek guidance, and experience his love.

This truth compels us to live differently.

  • Deepen our relationship with Jesus: Read the scriptures, pray, and reflect on his teachings.
  • Share the message: Spread the good news of Jesus and his sacrifice for the world.
  • Live a Christ-like life: Emulate Jesus in our actions, showing love, forgiveness, and compassion to others.

The Word is the Son of God. This powerful truth lies at the heart of our faith. May it guide us on our journey with Christ.

Amen.

The WORD is the SON of GOD

Let us explore a profound truth that lies at the heart of our faith: Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, is the Son of God. This divine revelation transcends human understanding, yet it is the cornerstone of our salvation. Let us uncover the depth and significance of this truth.

The Word Incarnate

In the Gospel of John, we encounter the majestic proclamation: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1 ESV). This Word, eternal and preexistent, took on human form and dwelt among us (John 1:14). Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, bridged the gap between heaven and earth.

The angel Gabriel visited Mary, a young virgin, with astonishing news: “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore, the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God” (Luke 1:35 ESV). Mary’s obedience and faithfulness allowed the Word to become flesh within her womb.

The Baptism

At Jesus’ baptism, the heavens opened, and a voice declared, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17 ESV). The Father affirmed Jesus’ divine identity, emphasizing His unique relationship as the Son of God.

In the wilderness, Satan challenged Jesus, saying, “If you are the Son of God…” (Matthew 4:3 ESV). Jesus resisted temptation, affirming His identity and purpose.  He is the Son of God—the fulfillment of God’s promise.

On the mountaintop, Peter, James, and John witnessed Jesus’ transfiguration. His face shone like the sun, and a voice echoed from the cloud: “This is my beloved Son; listen to him” (Matthew 17:5 ESV). The disciples glimpsed His glory—the divine radiance of the Son of God.

At Calvary, Jesus hung upon the cross, bearing our sins. Darkness covered the land, and He cried out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46 ESV). In that moment, the Son of God experienced separation from the Father—a sacrifice for our redemption.

Three days later, the tomb was empty. The risen Christ appeared to His disciples, confirming His victory over sin and death. Thomas exclaimed, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28 ESV). The doubter became a believer, recognizing Jesus as the Son of God.

Beloved, let us embrace this truth: The Word became flesh, and His name is Jesus—the Son of God. Through Him, we find forgiveness, reconciliation, and eternal life. May our hearts echo the confession of Peter: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:16 ESV). Amen.

May the Holy Spirit illuminate our hearts as we meditate on this profound mystery. Let us walk in the light of the Son of God, who loved us and gave Himself for us. 🙏🕊️

The Word is GOD

The Word as God is a central tenet of Christianity, revealing the divine nature of Jesus Christ. Let's delve into this powerful truth with some key Bible verses:

  • John 1:1: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." This verse establishes the Word's existence from the eternal ages past, before the beginning of all beginnings, co-existing with God and sharing his divine essence.

  • John 1:14: "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth." This verse clarifies that the Word became human – Jesus Christ. It emphasizes his unique position as God's Son, radiating God's glory and grace.

These verses from John's Gospel leave no room for doubt: the Word is God incarnate.

Further support comes from the Old Testament:

  • Proverbs 8:22-31: Here, wisdom is personified, existing before creation and delighting in God. Many scholars see this as a foreshadowing of Christ, the embodiment of God's wisdom.

The Word, being God, plays a crucial role in creation:

  • John 1:3: "Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made." This verse highlights the Word's power as the instrument through which God created everything.

The message of the Word offers hope and redemption:

  • Romans 5:8: "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." The Word, Jesus, became human to offer salvation. His sacrifice bridges the gap between humanity and God.

The Word is the foundation of our faith. By believing in Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, we receive forgiveness and experience God's love.
